Flash Coffee makes South Korea debut with two Seoul stores

The new retail coffee chain is continuing its expansion across Asia, entering the South Korean market and opening more stores in its native Singapore.

Singapore’s Flash Coffee has entered the South Korean market with two stores in Seoul, a flagship two-storey store at Sinsa, and another store in Yeoksam, both in the fashionable Gangnam district.
 
The openings mark Flash Coffee’s sixth market in Asia Pacific, with the coffee chain planning to open two further outlets in the South Korean capital by the end of 2021.

“South Korea is filled with coffee enthusiasts and our coffee consumption rate ranks within the top 10 in the world. We are confident that our high-quality beverages crafted by award-winning baristas at Flash Coffee will appeal to South Korean coffee lovers. Our goal is to make our specialty coffee accessible to all,” said Un Koh, Managing Director, Flash Coffee Korea.
 
Flash Coffee has embarked on a period of rapid expansion since securing $15m investment in April 2021 and announcing its goal to open new 300 locations by the end of 2021.
 
The chain said it opened eight stores in its native Singapore market over the last month, bringing its store count on the island to 28. Flash Coffee says it now operates more than 200 locations across  Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea, with plans to launch in Japan soon.
 
Launching in January 2020, Flash Coffee deploys a ‘new retail business model, with customers able to order beverages for pick-up and delivery via an app and well as offering in-store seating. In early 2021, the brand’s CEO David Brunier, said he aspired to have “a Flash Coffee every 500 metres in all major Asian cities.”
